1. Can you explain the main objectives and importance of CMEIG for the industry?

CMEIG is the voice of our industry, whether it be communicating with government, other industries or regulatory bodies "CMEIG" is in place to voice the concerns and opinions of our industry. Another important role is to be involved in promoting our industry through its involvement in conducting exhibitions not unlike the upcoming CME 2014.

2. What impact do you think the recent election has on the Construction and Mining sector?
In my opinion it is to early to see any positive or negative outcomes. I do think that we will see a positive change in the future with the abolishment of the Mineral Resources tax.

3. What is your opinion on the major challenges and opportunities currently facing the industry?
Some challenges are the recent increases in importation of new equipment aka "grey imports", these machines are quite often not built to Australian specifications yet dealers are still expected to be able to support them let alone the loss of a sales opportunity. Another is the fast pace of technological improvements in equipment today and our ability to train our service personnel in the repair and maintenance of the machines. No longer is a Heavy Duty Fitter a "Grease Monkey", today's fitter has to be computer savy as well.

As to some opportunities, we may see some usage out of the rural district's as some of the rail networks are closed and rural roads upgraded to carry the expected increase in heavy transport of grain's etc. I am not an economist but it would appear that the commercial and residential building sector is still improving, if that be the case then I would expect some favourable opportunities in the future.

4. What are your main goals and objectives for exhibiting at the CME expo?
To communicate to our broader customer base the benefits of dealing with Tutt Bryant Equipment, to showcase our new products and models and to have a broad cross section of our products on display in the one convenient location. Obviously some of our main goals are to improve sales and exposure.

5. Which new products and technologies are you displaying at the expo?
We will be displaying our new model Sumitomo dash six excavators with tier 4 engine technology, our new model Yanmar dash 6 mini excavators also with tier 4 engine technology and the all new Bomag BW177D-5 single drum vibratory roller. We will also be introducing the Okada range of hydraulic hammers to suit our range of mini excavators.
